CORE

On mid-week nights at Park Hills Church, our youth ministry focuses on growing and following Jesus together. We believe there are six principles that help us grow into a more Christ-like relationship with Him: loving God and His Word, loving others, life as worship, dependence on prayer, dependence on the Holy Spirit, and bearing fruit. Our mission is to express the love of Christ and focus on teaching God's Word alone. We believe that God's Word is alive and a guide to help us live our life in a proper way. As followers of Jesus we let His Words and the Spirit's guidance of other Biblical authors user us into a deeper relationship with Him.

FAQ's:

What is the purpose of CORE?

The purpose of CORE is come alongside of middle school students to show them the love of Jesus, encourage them to grow in their faith, relationships, and impact their world for God.

What is the length of a CORE night?

CORE officially runs from 6:30pm - 8pm. However, we encourage parents to drop their students off at the Chapel door as early as 6pm and kindly ask that all students are picked up by 8:30pm.

Is there food provided at CORE?

We provide a snack, typically at the end of the night and have two vending machines available just in case your student gets hungry.

Are permission slips required?

In short, yes.  We keep permission slips on file for the school year calendar (Aug-July).  We keep the master copy on file and bring photocopies along with us on trips.  This method makes it easier on the parent, having to only fill out one permission slip per student each year.

Does CORE take trips?

Yes! We love trips! Our current model is 4 large scale trips/events per year, one per season.

Fall Retreat - this weekend getaway is designed to start the school year off right!  We spend the weekend having a blast playing games, enjoying worship, lessons, s’mores around the bonfire, and bonding with other students and the CORE leaders! Check out this link for more info! A CORE student can sign-up on a CORE night and the cost through us is $90.

Districts - this jam-packed weekend is incredible!  We head to Green Bay, WI in early January to join with 4,000 other students.  This weekend conference includes rallies with national-level speakers, worship bands, comedians, illusionists, rappers, and other awesome people - all with the mission to point teens towards Jesus using their talents.  There are also break-out sessions with specific topics for students that want a little more our of their conference weekend!

DayBreak - This weekend retreat is designed with the student who takes their faith seriously in mind.  The theme of the weekend is simply, “Living  as friends who follow Jesus, together.”  The concept of this retreat is help students go from simply being a Christian to being a Christian who invites their friends to know Jesus.  It’s an impacting weekend and exciting to see how God uses it to change lives!

IMPACT - This year our students will have access to a middle-school mission trip. Details will be available in a packet after January 1.

What does a normal night look like?

The word ‘normal’ seems silly in student ministry!  With that said, there are a number of common elements to each night at CORE.
